Welcome to the Romance Garden Blog Tour hosted by Sherry of Powered by Quilting. This is her seventh line with Island Batik and this is our second time joining her.
I love love love this line. It has been a long and chilly winter and this line is just so bright and springy. This line is just coming out just in time for spring. Out side the daffodils are blooming and the tulips are coming up. The iris died back but never really stopped growing. The saliva is growing and the rosemary is covered in tiny blue blossoms.
We are in the spring of deception. We get a warm spell in late February and early March before the winds set in. We will have some beautiful spring days that hit almost 70 degrees. But then we get the 35-50 mile per hour winds that blow down fences and rip shingles off the roof. We will have at least one more snow here, just about the time the fruit trees bloom. You think in April it is safe to plant your tomatoes in the garden because you can get a head start before the heat sets in. Well it is always a mistake. It is safest to wait until mothers day.
So here is our iris inspired quilt.
My garden comes alive in the spring when all of the flowers come.
This is my inspiration photo for the quilt. This variety of iris is called Cranberry Kiss. I think we got it in 2017 or 2018 from the Hondo Iris Farm. Sadly the iris farm is no more but it was fun while it was there. The purple for the setting came from the vast number of purple iris in my yard that just grow everywhere and get into everything.
The patter for this quilt will be out Friday. In the mean time Be sure to visit all of these amazingly talented quilters and designers to see their beautiful Romance Garden projects!
